Virtual Boy Wario Land was originally going to be called 'A Wario Cruise.' Because the game was on the Virtual Boy, the game is in black and red. It was one of the best selling Virtual Boy games.

Gameplay

Virtual Boy Wario Land is very similar to the more linear, Mario-esque gameplay of Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. The three helmets from Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 return in this game. In this game you can at certain times jump into the backround and foreground, a trait that inspired a mechanic in Kirby Triple Deluxe. There are multiple power ups in this game, just like in the first Wario Land game. The dragon helmet which gives Wario the abilty to shoot flames, the Bull helmet make's the shoulder bash more powerful, and the The eagle helmet which allows Wario to fly in mid air. By combining all the helmet's it makes the king dragon helmet, which has the properties of all of the different helmets.
